You're invited to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations at the United Nations Association of Dane County’s (UNA Dane) annual UNA Day luncheon celebration.
When? Sunday, October 26, from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm
Where? Catholic Multicultural Center, 5256 Verona Road, Fitchburg

Keynote Speaker 🎤
Keynote speaker will be Sara McKinnon of the UW-Madison International Studies Program. A response to McKinnon’s remarks will be offered by Carmel Capati, Immigration Attorney for the Catholic Multicultural Center of Madison, followed by questions from attendees.
Professor McKinnon’s topic will be “The Right to Move and Seek Refuge in an Authoritarian Era”.
Professor McKinnon has expertise in immigration, asylum, and refugee law, and how foreign policy collaboration can provide or limit options for migration and asylum. She will offer comments on how immigration and refugee movement has been affected by Trump administration policies and how immigrants and refugees can maintain human rights and safer movement.
Who is Professor Sara McKinnon?
Sara McKinnon is a Professor in UW-Madison’s Department of Communication Arts, has authored three books and is faculty director of Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies with affiliations in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies. She is active in the UW-Madison Migration in the Americas Project, an effort focused on migration policy to reduce risk and harm to make movement and residence safer for migrants throughout the Western Hemisphere.
